Chandra & Oscar Martinez

Chandra – Head Coach & Trainer
Chandra started riding at the age of 8, and horses quickly became the centre of her world. At 13 she started volunteering at a local breeding farm, handling all different ages of horses from stallions to foals. After high school, Chandra earned a degree in equine studies before travelling to New York to work under 2-time dressage Olympian, Lendon Gray. Chandra spent 18 months working under Lendon, and this also happens to be where she met Oscar. Upon returning to Canada, Chandra started working for the Irving family (Windhaven), and stayed with them for nearly 10 years. This is also where Chandra had the chance to meet and work with Kim Kirton, whom she credits to be the most influential person in her career thus far. Chandra has also had the opportunity to train and work under top riders such as Hyde Moffat, Rachel Schnurr, Beth Underhill, and Forest Hill Stables (Dee Walker). Her wealth of knowledge is a product of her extensive education and experience working as a riding instructor in the equine industry. In 2017, she and her husband Oscar started their own boarding and training business, and that’s how Equine Endeavours was born.
Oscar – Head of Horse Care & Barn Management
Oscar was born and raised in El Palmar, Guatemala, where he helped his family grow corn and bean crops, and was exposed to horses through his family’s work horse. At 17, Oscar traveled to the United States to groom horses professionally, and worked at a number of accredited stables such as JT Farm, Heritage Farm, and Lendon Gray, where he spent several years grooming for Lendon, and where he also met Chandra. When Chandra returned to Canada to work for the Irving family, Oscar returned to Guatemala to start the long process of coming to Canada as a legal permanent resident. After 2 years, Oscar was able to come to Canada and join Chandra as a travelling show groom for the Irving family. Oscar has also had the privilege of working under a number of established riders such as Carly Campbell-Cooper, Rachel Schnurr, Beth Underhill, and Foresthill Stables, before establishing Equine Endeavours in 2017.
